"The family you've given your love to, is the family that will stand by your side."
In the summer of 2010, I taught five high school students drama as part of the Resurgence Theatre Company's Senior Youth Theatre Conservatory. This intensive six-week training program was designed to prepare students to pursue theatre at the post-secondary level and eventually a career in the performing arts. Upon completion of the program, each participant was awarded two credits towards their high school diploma.
Together, we looked at new Canadian plays, Shakespeare's writing, textual analysis, critical thinking & writing skills, stage management techniques, puppet and mask making, and movement work. A large part of our program focused around a production of The Jungle Book. My students created their own set, costumes, masks and puppets for this work and all played multiple roles.
As an Artist Educator, I also have experience working for the Shaw Festival, Tarragon Theatre, Canadian Stage, the Canadian Opera Company and Theatre Smash. I also hold a certificate as an Artist Educator from the Shaw Festival and Brock University.
